Closer to us here at ICE: taken in Elgin, June 15 2008, – the Fox River rising.

As I was praying for something totally unrelated I felt the Lord impress upon me,”What about the flood disasters?” So I have had my focus turned to this.

I’ve seen a bit in the media about what is going on right here in our own Midwest, but really not that much. As I look into it further I sense this certainly deserves more coverage and attention.

No doubt about it, this is very serious what is happening because of the tornadoes and flooding.

Flooding alone has also hit parts of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, and Kansas. Because of the severe weather: thousands of acres of crops have been destroyed, roads closed, shipments & Amtrak are hindered, hospitals evacuated. There have also been a number of related deaths across the Midwest. In Cedar Rapids,Iowa the number of evacuees is around 24,000, and they currently also have a severe water shortage. The National Weather Service has said, overall the damage may reach billions of dollars. All this is going to further hurt our shaky economy.

We need to remember our Midwest in prayer. More storms are expected. Rock Island and Moline in Illinois, Iowa City and the Quad Cities along the Mississippi River, Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa, are expected to have more flooding as more storms come in through Father’s Day.

We welcome comments, stories, testimonies & prayer requests about this pressing concern. We also would like to post the information on church & Christian relief groups who are getting involved in helping out in these areas.

One national group getting involved in providing relief in Iowa is “Operation Blessing”.
